"Something went wrong" when using Teams via Windows 10

Copper Contributor

Running Teams from my Windows 10 PC suddenly started failing during login with the generic "Something went wrong" error message. However, Teams runs without issue within browser on same machine.

Attempts to resolve have included:

  • Restarted machine
  • Reviewed recently installed updates, nothing coincided with the failure.
  • Applied all pending OS updates
  • Updated installed browsers
  • Cleared browser cache
  • Cleared application cache by deleting all files and folders under %appdata%\Microsoft\teams
  • Cleared cached permissions within Windows Credentials Manager
  • Reinstalled Teams

While browser is short term work around finding resolution required to restore user/product confidence.

Hi @Jay Geraghty   Is there anything corrupted about your log-in credentials?

@ThereseSolimeno no corruption that I could discern and I even tried using another local account which produced the same error.

Okay @Jay Geraghty   I'm stumped and if no one else from the community can help, I recommend you reach out to the answers.microsoft.com tech support forum for personalized attention.
