PSTN calling gives wrong country prefix

Copper Contributor

We have users in Sweden, Norway, Finland, calling with Direct Routing. Now I have one user where Teams add the wrong country prefix when the prefix is missing. I have no configuration for adding country prefixes, but it has worked anyway. I just assumed Teams was looking at the users location to know what prefix to use, but not for this one newly added user. Any ideas of where to look?

When you say Users location. This is the Usage Location field e.g. From the Office 365 Admin Page, find user, go to Licenses and check country. Check this is correct for that particular user.
If you don't have specific dial plans set for each country that you assign to each user, then it uses this to determine your country's prefix codes\dial plans etc.

@PatrikE Hi Patrik, I just experienced the same issue for some users in our new consolidated office in Italy. We were confused as it was only a handful of the users, but we managed to resolve it this way:
- Connected to on-prem AD and looked up the users

- Checked the "Address" tab under their profiles

- Selected the corresponding country (Italy) from the drop-down menu
- Applied the changes
- Connected to Teams Admin Center (TAC) and looked up the users

- Verified their details and assigned location was correct

- Waited up to 30-60 minutes

- Signed the user out of Teams on their device and logged in again

Once they signed in again and now typed in a phone number on their dial pad in Teams, it would now show the correct country code prefix (in this case Italian).

I see your post is few years old but hope this will help resolve for others with the same issue.

@da_R0y Thanks alot. It was a while ago, but I think it was the licence location that was the cause.
