My organization has both Teams and Skype for Business installed on my machine. Recently they announced that Skype was retiring. Well, I'm having an issue related to receiving messages from contacts outside my organization.
I have a few contacts who are using Teams from their organization, however when they send me a message, it appears in Skype. If I initiate a conversation with them, first sending the message from Teams the reply will come to Team. However after a few minutes of inactivity, their next reply goes to Skype.
I also have a few contacts who are using Skype and those messages also only appear in Skype.
Is there a way to force all messages from these contacts to go to Teams?

You are experiencing what is commonly referred to as islands mode - see detail here about your current deployment of Teams: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/teams-and-skypeforbusiness-coexistence-and-interoper...
Unfortunately, until you get to Teams only mode, you'll experience some of this where do I see what message happening. Here are some blogs with a bit more detail.
