I wasn't sure whether to post this here or in the Planner community, but opted for here since my team uses Planner within Teams and the issue seems to be Teams related.

We have multiple channels setup for each of our projects, each with a Planner tab enabled. Recently, we noticed that several of the channels seem to be "sharing" tasks between them. For instance if I add a task in one channel, the same task is added to two other channels. The Planner tab names vary depending on who created them, but all the channels that are having the issue have the tab named "Project Tasks". Is the name the issue? Do all the channels need the Planner tab to have unique names?

It shouldn't but the real question to check is that are each of the channel plans actually unique or did they Pick an existing name? I would pop into the channels tabs and use the "web site" pop out link on them, and compare PlanID's make sure that the same plans aren't actually being used on each tab.

The names "Shouldn't" matter, but it could be some kind of bug where it's not using PlanID's when clicking on it and it's using the name for some reason, but double check your plans make sure they aren't actually same plans since you can pick the plan from another channel when setting up a planner tab.

Aha! That lead me to the answer. It turns out that the team member that created the Planner tab clicked the "Use an existing plan" option thinking only used the same name. Until now none of us realized that this option shares the tasks between channels.

Thanks for the quick reply!

Yup, exactly what I was thinking might have happen :). Glad it was an easy fix.

is there a way to share tasks across specific channels?  I would like to be able to share the same task to multiple channels within my org.  thank you!

I also would like to be able to have a combined view (schedule) of tasks in all channels within a team. From a planning point of view it can be difficult when activities are siloed within channels.
