Permission for Group Owners in related SharePoint site

When creating a team the group owners will be added as site collection admins in the related SharePoint Site. This will give the group owners full control and it's not possible to create custom lists with limited permissions (ex. only view permissions for all users in site). The group owners will anyway get full permission due to site collections admin membership.

Is it supported to move the group owners from site collection admins to the built-in Owners Group in SharePoint?

Off the top of my head, I cannot think of any Teams functionality that will break if you do so, but as far as "supported" goes, I don't think it qualifies.
