Hi,

Is there a way to open a link to an external document in a SharePoint library inside of teams?

In teams when I click on the linked file > I am asked to download the file > the download file does not open the document or go to the weblink of the file.

The first screenshot is from the SharePoint library

The second screenshot is from inside of teams.

The third screenshot shows the file that was downloaded from teams.

In SharePoint, the file is opened in a new browser tab correctly.

Thank you for the help.

That is because you are linking to aspx files which are not an editable filetype If you are trying to link to pages you need use urls / website / SharePoint tab to access those. You might be able to link a tab to the library and then it might load the SharePoint page but it’ll. BE a striped down version most likely.
