News tab from Sub Site

Is it possible to create a tab with news from a sub site?

I don't see a reason why this cannot be done...the question here is the following: why a sub site in a flat world where everything in SPO is a site?

If you know how - please share.

The reason for this is that I want a News section per channel and not just one common News section for the whole team. Sharepoint does not support more that one News section per site.
