Need clarity on External access VS Guest access

Copper Contributor

Hello Everyone,

I would like to confirm on external access VS guest access in Teams.

1. can we enable both?
ex: I have allowed 5 domains under the "allowed domains list" in Teams settings and also I have enabled Guest settings under Teams as well as at Azure AD guest settings.

2. As I have allowed only 5 domains in Teams, will I be restricted only to add users from those domains or can I send/invite other domain users such as @gmail.com or @outlook.com ?

Solution

Yes, you can have both types enabled. The allow/block list you configure in the TAC apply only to federated/external users, not Guest users. If you want to limit those on a domain basis, you need to adjust the Azure AD policy.
