We just switched from Discord to Microsoft teams. A functionality we are missing/can't find/ would like an app for it the ability to "@mention" multiple people even if they haven't favorited a specific chat. These individuals are like project leads that groups collaborating in one area would like to ping without having to ping each individually. This is similar to the "roles" function in discord.
Unfortunately the only way you can accomplish this today is by using channel mentions. BUT however you can @channel mention another channel in any channel, so technically if you can get those folks that you want in a role to favorite a channel, say channel called "Mods". Then in your general channel or "Fun Stuff Channel" you can @Mods in those channels to basically @mention them. Not ideal, but for now that's your only option. They are supposed to be adding back the ability to see who "Favorites" or what I like to call join channels so you know who will be getting those messages. But yeah I agree, Teams could use a bunch of idea's from Discord. Maybe if they take Private channels which are coming and do it right, they will add roles but I'm not counting on it initially. Maybe long term :).
