MS Teams Chat notifications not honoring already pop'ed out chats

When I am working in Teams and pop out a chat, when I get a notification they have replied to that chat, it is taking me back to the chat portion of MS Teams instead of honoring the already pop'ed out message chain.  Is there a setting for this or was this a swing and miss for MS?
