MS Teams and Archived files

Copper Contributor

Hi;

We have a big volume of files and documents about 2 Terabytes. We have been told that files older than 3 years old need to be archived. I am trying to understand how MS teams is going to work with the archived files .

1- Does this mean we have all the old files archived in one place ( one file) and when we need to access any old file we need to go and un-archive it out of the archived file ?

2- or does this mean all old files are also moved to MS-Teams cloud storage and are shown using an Archive Icon that if we want to can go about un-archiving them?  Thanks

Would appreciate putting some spot light on how MS teams is going to deal with Archived files.

Thank you

Hi,

So the only thing you can Archive Teams wise at present is a whole Team, which would encompass the content stored in SharePoint and if memory serves me correct you get the option to set the content to Read only in situ at the time of archiving.

So when you say what happens to an Archived file, are you talking retention policies and what happens?

Thanks

Henry
Yeah,
We need some clarification about what you mean by Archiving content in SPO...as Henry has pointed out, there is not real "archive" for SPO, the most similar feature is to retain content
