Microsoft Teams login redirects to old organization

Copper Contributor

When attempting to log in to Microsoft Teams, I am directed to an old organisation for which I no longer have an account, and so I am unable to login.

There appears to be no way to use an alternative login.

@planetmarshall Sounds as if you could have that account in your computer "Account settings". Go have a look there. If not, try this.

For work/school account go here to see if you have an org. to leave https://myaccount.microsoft.com/organizations

Adding for personal account as well, go here https://myapps.microsoft.com/ (the link "Manage my organizations" will take you to the above site too).

Note: Use InPrivate / Incognito sessions to avoid cached credentials.

This is great script to clear all settings related to autostart in Teams, simply copy and paste into PowerShell and hit enter.

PowerShell script sample - Reset the autostart setting in Teams - Microsoft Teams | Microsoft Docs

The solutions presented above are in general totally useless, because it requires the user to attempt to login in to Microsoft sponsored corporate accounts which they no longer have access to because they no longer are affiliated with the organization.

The link to the "reset scripts" directs the  user to a page which is not relevant to the Teams diagnostics and utilities and a search for the "reset scripts" comes up empty.

If you suffer from this issue, the only fix is to join the Teams meeting, and when in the login window BEFORE the SSO redirect,

- COPY the URL in the login window

- Open a Private Window in your browser

- PASTE the URL into the Private Window

So sorry Teams sucks in this way, as does most Microsoft products.

Try clearing the cache by following https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/troubleshoot/teams-administration/clear-teams-cache

Then it should prompt you for the credentials.
