Hi,

Checkout this script that will help you create backups of Teams: https://www.lee-ford.co.uk/backup-team/

For compliance private chats are saved in personal mailboxes so if you backup Exchange mailboxes you will also backup the journal copy saved there. If you do backup of OneDrive you will also catch the files shared in personal chats.

What Commvault can do or not you should talk to them about. But I know they can at least backup Exchange and OneDrive for Business. So with a combination of Lee's script you might get what you are looking for.

Take a look at AvePoint and Spanning

@V0nz0

We are trying to investigate exactly this question now. Over the last 4 weeks we've trialed 8 solutions that claim to have Teams backup (in addition to Exchange/SharePoint that everyone supports these days).

Most of the vendors support Teams in some limited way, and the most complete solutions we found is Veeam. Our preference is [strongly] towards cloud-to-cloud backup and we're currently deciding between AvePoint (https://www.avepoint.com/) and afi.ai. AvePoint is a large vendor, however it does not backup auxiliary Teams data (like Teams OneNote, lists, etc). afi backs all Teams data like Veeam, but we understand they are a new and small vendor.

Let me know what solution you ended up using. In the light of Covid and remote work we'll have to make the decision soon...
