We've had a few random instances where a user will get a desktop notification for a teams message, and the message will appear in the Activity tab but the message is not in the Team conversation even though a location and time stamp are available from the activity notification. Any advice on how to find the message?

This happens when someone deletes a message after posting it. The mobile app handles it right and says message deleted. Not sure why they haven't made the desktop version do something similar.

Several users are having issues where they receive a notification that a channel has been updated but they are unable to see the update in the desktop app, web app or mobile. User tries closing Teams app from taskbar and reopening but no difference. User reboots laptop and the activity in the channel is shown upon reboot. Other users are able to see the activity that the user in question does not see. User is on the latest version of Teams desktop app.

This is not the case for me, the messages are not being deleted. It is taking somewhere around 15 minutes for the chat message to appear in the Teams tab after it appeared in my notifications and is visible in the Activity tab. I am having this issue on the desktop app as well as on the web at teams.microsoft.com. The Teams chat messages are showing up in my iOS apps, however.chat.jpg

I have the same issue with some users in our environment. I contacted MS support and did a screen share showing the problem (luckily it happened while the support engineer was watching!), my ticket is still open while they investigate.

Android is correct, but interfaces for web and Windows (which is also web-based unfortunately) are missing group messages.

Yes, we have seen the same here with one user.

Even if they shutdown and re-start, the problem is still there. Only when they log out in Teams and log back in does it fix itself - but only for a few hours before becoming a problem again.

So if you see an Activity yet clicking on the activity does not highlight the conversation, try logging out of Teams and back in....while this gets fixed by MS?

Im having the same issue. This even happens in the web client. The notification is sent out, but the conversation is not shown. When I force quit the application and restart it, then the new conversations are shown. In the web client I have to log out and back in to see the actual update. Very strange behaviour.

We're having this issue too with a slight difference, where it may appear in mobile, but not the desktop or tablet client this can also happen where I see an update on desktop but doesn't show on mobile.

This has been getting progressively worse for me for the past week and others in the team are now starting to experience (or notice?!) the same issue. It makes having a flowing team 'chat' almost unworkable when messages don't appear, to the point we're having to revert to email for important conversations. 

Messages appear in notifications and the activity feed reasonably quickly but do not show in the threads themselves. Android mobile seems find but the desktop and web just do not update. I am on a Mac using the teams app and teams in Chrome.

Same problem here. I can find the full message in my iOS app, but Desktop Teams only gives me the notification. Tried restarting and signing out and in. It started with a few specific users, and now that number has grown. It's making Teams an unviable alternative to email, and for faster collaboration we will have to stop using Teams if this is not addressed.

I experienced something recently too like this. 

@Dan Stevenson @Raanah Amjadi can you guys by chance comment if you know of these issues and they are being worked on, seems to be quiet a few reports recently. If it happens to me again and I can reproduce I'll try submitting a ticket, but I've seen 2 instances myself where mobile and desktop aren't reporting the same. Logging off and on has fixed in both cases, but it's worrisome that people not paying attention could be missing messages.

I am having this issue now too, at a critical juncture unfortunately. This is making Teams unusable for our team. If it remains unresolved I can't imagine it being a serious option for our company. We just moved off of a slack/wrike combo lured by the promise of teams. And for almost a month now the issues were manageable. No longer.

Has anyone heard from MS on this?  This is a huge deal and other than someone from MS marking a reply that only highlighted the major issues, there has not even been an acknowledgement that this is a problem.

I'm having this same issue.  I replied to a conversation within a channel from the desktop app.  It was visible for awhile, but then it disappeared from both the desktop app and the web interface; but it is visible in the android app.  I also verified that another user IS able to see the post in the desktop app.

Restarting the app had no effect for me....however I logged out/in of the desktop app, and my post appeared! Based on a previous reply, this worked for someone else as well, but I'm not sure this is a permanent fix.

Same here. Logging out and in again retrieves the missing messages but the odd part is that when I log in via Microsoft Teams Online, the channel is missing completely. I tried the OFfice365 online repair but it didn't do anything. Other team members doesen't seem to affected though.

I have this issue a lot. We are trying to get people to switch from Hipchat and Skype for Business to Teams but it's going to turn them off real fast when the basic messaging function has such a major annoying bug.

They’ve pushed out a fix. If you update your client you should get the patch. Pretty sure it should be pushed to all by now.

Update must still be traveling on the wire. I triggered update check on the desktop app, and none were found, still the version I'm on when it broke:  Version 1.1.00.18052 (64-bit).

Hopefully it'll make its rounds soon!

The bug just occurred for me again and Teams says I'm running the latest version: 1.1.00.18052 (64-bit). It was last updated on 7/12/18.

The update is like a mini patch won’t change the version number. Anyway it’s possible it’s not 100% pushed yet. They did say it could take up to 48 hours I think to complete and this was yesterday.

I have version 19257 and still have the problem this morning, in fact this is the first time I noticed the problem

Some messages on the desktop client show up in the web app, and some messages in the web app show up in the desktop client... This thing is a mess!

Same issues here.  The desktop version after restarting won't show the posts I made to the channel and I only see replies in the activity space not in my channel.

Don’t just restart / quit you have to log out and back in.
