Meetings Authentication Guests

Steel Contributor
Hey all,

Is there an option to authenticate guest users in meetings? As I understand it, I can have an online meeting with guest users but anyone with the link can access the meeting?

I sent a test meeting invite to my personal Gmail account. I could open the link and join the lobby. When I checked who was in the lobby I saw my name as in the lobby but also it was still waiting on my gmail account name so there was no link?

Hi David, see article here

AFAIK, at the current time anyone with the link can join the meeting as anonymous users and go into the lobby - but the organiser or authenticated meeting user has to allow them in

Hope that answers your question!

Yeah! You was actually a anonymous user here! A guest user is someone that is invited to your organisation and have an authentication!
See here as well:

Thanks both. If I add the guest user as a guest in Azure AD, will that make them a guest user as opposed to anonymous?

The anonymous meeting works fine, I guess you're just relying on whatever name they enter in the lobby.
Also keep in mind that you can set different options regarding lobby etc!!
Also to keep in mind the ratio of guests to users in the tenant which I believe at the current time is 5:1
