Meeting chat question

Steel Contributor

Should meeting invitees be able to see chat history even if they did not join a meeting?  I'm getting reports of users who cannot see chat history if they didn't join, or if there was chat after they left and came back.  I assumed, maybe incorrectly, that meeting chat was persistent.

If the the users are external they will not see chats in meeting thread after they leave. For internal users who were added to meeting while scheduling should see chats unless they explicitly leave the thread.

@Tushar Pathak How do you explicitly leave a thread in a teams meeting chat?

@Georgeina Baker

Go to meeting chat thread

Click on People icon on top right (beside join button)

Select Leave

@Tushar Pathak I don't see a people icon there. Do I have to be in the meeting to leave the chat?

Hi @Georgeina Baker   You should be able to leave the chat anytime.  Is this what you see when you click on the three dots in the chat?

Got it - thanks for the instructive screenshot @ThereseSolimeno
