Manage a team without becoming a member?

Is it possible as an O365 admin to manage a Team without actually being a member? Right now I have to add myself as a member and then switch to owner in order to manage the Team content, settings, recover files, etc. It would be nice if there was a global admin permission that would allow you to simply access any team without ever having to be a member.

Admins can manage (most) settings without having to be a member of a team. If you want to manage content within the team however, you need to be added as member/owner.

as you want to control everything even 'etc.', owner sounds like the best choice
