[Mac OS] Teams won't launch in the background

Has anyone had the issue where the hide on boot option (System Preferences, Users & Groups, Login Items, Hide) never stays checked, and Teams won't open in the background?

I've checked the Hide box in settings and it never stays checked after a restart (and Teams opens). I've tried toggling the Open at Login both on and off in the dock, and toggling the Auto-start application within Teams itself. Teams always launches at boot, but I'd like it to open in the background (including the launch splash pop-up).

For reference, this is on a new MacBook Air with a fresh install of 10.15.5 / just updated to 10.15.6. I have Outlook set to hide on launch and it works as intended.

I also use Teams on a MacBook Air, and whilst in general it performs really well, little things like this do tend to be a bit inconsistent I find.  I view it as the small price we pay for not running Teams on the "preferred platform" of Windows 10, which is always going to get the most attention when it comes to features.
