List of who 'joined' the meeting in teams meeting Chat

Copper Contributor

Hi

in the Chat for Teams meetings (whether organised from Outlook or from Teams calendar) it always says that everyone who was invited "joined the meeting" regardless of whether they actually joined.

This is misleading and has now caused an unnecessary security breach panic in our organisation because an out of date distribution list meant an invite went to a disgruntled former employee who then looked to have joined the meeting when in fact he had not.

Is this how it works for everyone or is our tenant incorrectly configured?

Many Thanks

Maura

@MauraMackinnon Hello Maura! You're not alone. It seems as if all invitees appear to have "joined the meeting" as per your description. This is a good question I don't have an answer to, but perhaps someone can explain the behavior.

To calm down the panic in your org. though you can download a meeting participant list (currently only possible during a meeting) to get an accurate attendance list.

For reference and guidance.

@MauraMackinnon, We experienced this same issue today. After some initial panic we realized what you noted in your post. A DL contained a former employee and Teams chat incorrectly looked as if they joined. We confirmed the AD account for the former employee had been disabled for months.
