Isolate users in same tenant in Teams

Copper Contributor

Hello

In our local council we gave O365 accounts for our Elected Members.

The thing is that we dont want them to abuse with Teams and start contacting the staff. They have an official channel to do so

But on the other end, since they already using O365 License, we are exploring the option to turn on Teams for them only if it is possible to isolate them from the rest of the users.

I know that I can put them in a different Team and to some extend isolate the sharing info between them and the rest, but is there a way that I can entirely restrict the communication (chat/voice) with any of the other users ? Like even when they go in the search bar to NOT be able to select and communicate with the rest ?

Thanks

Yes. Information Barriers can accomplish this. However it is a premium feature that requires E5 or a few other tiered options. It’s all in the docs here. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/information-barriers-in-teams

@Chris Webb

Thanks Chris

Everything is in the article you provided

Looks like they have decided for the moment to simply leave our elected members outside of Teams and move all their meetings into Zoom

Having E5 license to all of them will be a bit costly for small council as ours

Thanks
