Is there a way to record an impromptu (not pre-scheduled) Teams meeting?

In my organization's installation of Microsoft Teams, I only see the Record symbol when I go to Calendar and create a pre-scheduled meeting. If I go to "Teams" and then click on a channel and click on the little video camera symbol (with the "Meet now" tooltip) to create an impromptu meeting, I do not see a record option. Is there a way to fix this?

There shouldn't be any difference, I for one see the Start recording button in "meet now" type of meetings I start. Are you using the same user for both, perhaps there's a different policy in effect?
