IOS Teams APP : Why Teams for IOS, can not open a link, like windows version can do?

Copper Contributor

Hi all,

We are a Consultant company, about construction, architecture and engineer projects.

Well, we have some troubles with IOS Teams App.

Scenario in Windows 10 (see video "01_Teams Windows App")

1- In a Teams (desktop version), we created a team in Teams, and a private channel inside the team.

2- In this privare channel, we go to "Files", and created a little folder structure

3- We selected one folder, and we copied the link to this folder

4- At last, we create a new message, and we pasted the link to this folder

6- With this scenario, if we click on the link pasted in the message, we go to the folder, and all withou gone out of Teams interface. It's nice!

Scenario in IOS (see video "02_Teams IOS App")

1- We open Teams in an iPhone

1- We go to the message with the link

2- When we click on the link, it happen two things:

  - First, teams gone out, and it opens a browser (safari or chrome)

  - Second, the browser opened shows an error: the browser it's not compatible.

Conclussions?

Then, Why Teams app for IOS, can not open a link, inside Teams app for IOS interface, like the windows APP can do?

We did everything in order to try to solve it, but it was impossible:

- We have several iphones, and all them have the last IOS version (13.6.1)

- We delete all the app Teams data, uninstall Teams, and reinstall Teams again

- But those processes not solve the problem.....

Any idea?

Thanks a lot!

Hi @EiPM_Xavi_Coll

Great explanation and supporting material. Bug is already open here

https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/37885786-links-accessing-to-fi...

Would vote up to push it up the agenda. If it gets picked up you'll be notified. I'll also raise the bug with the product and engineering teams however, to set expectations, this can take some time to for them to pick up, investigate and remediate - so there is no definitive ETA on it we can only hope it is sooner rather than later

Hope that answers your question

Hi Chris,

First of all, thanks a lot for your fast answer! and also for the explanation about state of this bug. But we are worried about some bugs, like explained in this thread: It's been a year, and it's still unsolved...

We use Teams not only as internal use in our office, we also use it as a tool for comunications and share files with our colaborators and clients, that usually they have never used Teams or sharepoint before, and when they collaborate with us, it's his first time.

It's really frustating for us, suggest that everyone use Teams, and in the first uses of the tool by those collaborators and clients, they let to use it by this kind of bugs: this can have a negative impact in our services, our projects, and also in our image as a company.

It's not strange for me, see that the link to "vote" to solve this bug, there are only few votes. The clients and colaborators that try to uses the first time thoses services, and maybe it didn't works for them, maybe never will use it again, and never will enter to microsoft comunity website to try to found some solution....

Well, they are only some reflexions, and I really appreciate your answer, Chris! :D

Bests, Xavier Coll

Another year later and nothing has changed. In fact it’s worse if you happen to have desktop and iPhone versions, switching from one to the other then you have to confirm your Id by phone call or SMS. Assuming you’re somewhere with good signal and the system isn’t heavily loaded.
