In team meeting chat could we separate people to different chatroom?

Copper Contributor

Hi, could anyone give some suggestion that can people send participants in a scheduled team meeting, to separate "chat rooms" as you can with Zoom? For instance, you have a question for everyone to discuss in smaller groups and then you gather everyone in the big group to go through the results.

thank you!

You either use the chat created with the meeting before/during/after the meeting or you create a group chat with the attendees you’d like (internal members only)
Note that this will be separate from the meeting chat itself!

Hi,

Is it only chat or is it video breakout rooms like in Zoom you want? There is no function in Teams like the breakout rooms in Zoom. So currently the best option is that you schedule some extra meetings and then share the different join URL to the participants.

There is an uservoice request for breakout rooms, vote for that. Microsoft have tagged this as Planned so it will come sometime but no ETA now.
