How to Disable Files shared in Chat being automatically Saved to Sharepoint?

Anytime a user shares a file, image, PDF, etc in a chat within a Teams Channel, it automatically gets saved to the connected Sharepoint site. I know this is a normal function, but is there a way to disable this? So files do not get automatically saved to Sharepoint?

Hi, you would have to use chats or group chats for that (OneDrive).

We would also like this to be an option. Copy and Pasted files are not filed in SharePoint, but dragged and attached files are, and it fills our important organised file system with loose more-frivolous chat images. We will submit a request to make this an option to disable.

In the meantime, we've found that the files can be manually deleted, and they remain visible in the chat as they are saved into another area as well. We saw this other area referred to as the Teams Media Service.
