How to block Gifs completely on teams?

Copper Contributor

Is it possible to block Gifs on teams completely?

I have disabled Gifs and stickers within the admin centre and the options have disappeared for all users which is great however, people can still copy them from the internet and paste them into teams which kind of defeats the purpose of disabling them within the admin centre.

Is there a way to block them completely?

@KamCMM No, I don't think that is possible. As you say if administrators disable Giphys in Teams users will find other ways using them. Like copy them into conversation or copy the link to Giphys. So from a security point of view it is better to allow them.

Also from a productivity point of view it is better to allow them, if users can have a more relaxed conversation and have some fun (by using gifs in Teams) they will be more productive.

Disabling gifs should be configurable on client side, not in team or channel. What if someone is a high sensitive person or just have an epilepsy? Why UX's don't think about disabled people nowadays? It makes me sad.

@jagodaaaa Here is a uservoice requesting a feature to be able to hide/minimize gifs. It is under review so vote and comment. https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/18706384-ability-to-hide-or-mi...

From a productivity point of view, some users hate gifs and find them very distracting. That's the whole point of this thread, to allow some users to disable seeing them if they don't like them.

A "little" fun for you is too much fun for some of us, especially when it takes up a large amount of our screen. We're asking for the option to not view y'all's not-always-appropriate sense of humor and get our work done.

Vote for the uservoice and comment why, that is the best way to get some change.

@Avatar1990 try scrolling back for teams in a chat channel where half your team seems to only be able to communicate through gifs. ;(
