This is the way it works! Apparently your account doesn’t have the OD license assigned!
Teams is a cloud service, which means you can access Teams from everywhere , on a many devices! To be able to access files they need to live in the cloud ( aka office 365 ) a private chat means your/ their files which in this case is equivalent to Onedrive! By you sharing a file in chat, this file gets shared from your onedrive to people in the chat and vice versa
LOL!! that's an upside down argument. cloud is suppose to be for convenience... but by claiming you are on the cloud.. you have removed some of the basic functionality for chatting. and So how am I able to send files in the group conversation?? and strangely there is "alert" for chats in conversations... I am just perplexed of how convoluted this is. Thanks for you help BTW. I will try to get some other licence (slack or hang out) and cancel my microsoft teams. Just for you info, my team was using hangout and our institution decided to move to MS... I was skeptical... and now I was right... never had such weird, convoluted logic with google hangouts.
the fact that it is not seamless, speaks volumes about the product. The the idea that you need 2 separate licences to make one product work fully is just SAD. Sorry you think this is a good product, may be you should try something else. or at least the product manager for teams should. its been a headache to use.
Teams is not a single product! If you try to learn about it before start complaining about all sorts of things, it would be beneficial for you! Yes, I use Teams everyday and I think it’s great! Sure, it got flaws, but it’s still a great product! And I’ve used slack as well...
This conversation isn’t going anywhere! I hope you will have some patience and try it some more! Good bye
I agree... ! sorry last message.. cause now I am confused. So we can get teams licence but our organization need ADDITIONAL licence to send a file via chat?
So my organization got licence for teams, but it did not include one drive (which is required for teams to work)? Did I miss something? cause then I should get in touch with our IT and find out, who screwed up?
