How do we export and import Teams Chat Contacts ?

Copper Contributor

In the teams app under chat we have created a list of contacts.  How do we export and import these Teams Chat Contacts?  Note, we have three Microsoft 365 accounts, so we would like these contacts to be sync'd or at manually sync'd ( eg via export and import).    Thank you

sorry but that link doesn't address my use case?

@tommmy12

When I click on ... which is beside 'Contacts > favorites '  I have only the option to 1)  'Add a contact to this group, ' or if I select a group I can also only:  Delete the group or Rename the group?

Can anyone send me screen shot of how the Teams Admin can export my teams Chat contacts ?  Thank you !!!

Exporting Teams contacts (from outside the organization) can be done from the Exchange admin center, https://admin.exchange.microsoft.com/#/contacts > Recipients > Contacts

@Ahmed_Masoud97  Can you share a screen shot ?

Please let me know if you have any further assistance :)

@Ahmed_Masoud97   Interesting.  I have two teams accounts that I want to have the same teams chat contacts.  So in order to add the teams chat contacts into a second teams chat account I have to add them all manually ?  I was hoping to export the teams chat contacts from account1 and import them into account2 ?

Let me test this for you :) I will update you as soon as possible
I have checked and found it may be refer to the Admin/Account Contacts, which is different than Teams Chat Contacts..

I checked further and found that many people having the same request!

Exporting Teams chat contacts:

  1. Sign in to the Microsoft Teams desktop app.
  2. Click on your profile picture in the upper right corner and select "Settings".
  3. In the Settings menu, select "Privacy" and then click on "Manage contacts".
  4. In the Manage contacts window, click on the three dots (...) and select "Export contacts".
  5. Choose a location to save the file and click "Save".

Importing Teams chat contacts:

  1. Sign in to the Microsoft Teams desktop app.
  2. Click on your profile picture in the upper right corner and select "Settings".
  3. In the Settings menu, select "Privacy" and then click on "Manage contacts".
  4. In the Manage contacts window, click on the three dots (...) and select "Import contacts".
  5. Select the file that you exported previously and click "Open".
  6. Your contacts will now be imported into Teams.

This process will only sync the contacts within one Microsoft 365 account. If  syncing the contacts across multiple accounts, you need to repeat this process for each account.

How do I export Teams contacts ?

@mwilcox1SOD With you 100% and having the same frustration. I have a new contact in Teams (in my company) and I simply want to right click (or something) and then click "Add to Outlook Contacts." Not finding a solution to this. I can add them to my Teams contacts but I want that synced to my Outlook Contacts and import all their information. This should not be such a manual process.
