Is it possible to use a GoPro cam with Microsoft Teams? We're looking into carrying out a remote machine installation and I'm thinking Microsoft Teams with a GoPro cam would be the best solution?

Solution@Nowell365 Connect it to your computer as a webcam and Teams will be able to use it. But it is not recommended by GoPro.

Can you explain more what you are going to use it for?

Thanks for the reply. We intend for the engineer onsite to use a GoPro cam with a head strap carrying out a machine installation while our expert engineers guide them remotely.

@Nowell365 Okay, checkout this device from RealWear. Could be something for you that is designed for what you want to do.

@Linus Cansby Looks really good and would probably be perfect for what we need although I don't think it's fully available yet in the UK and probably a bit more than we were looking to pay as we're probably going to need a few worldwide.
I'm sure there must be loads of companies wanting to do what we're planning at the moment.

@Nowell365 It is available, 2500 USD. To get Teams you have to sign up in their preview program.

Add 1000 USD extra and you get a Hololens as Steven suggested.

Also think about how much a own solution can cost in time, it might when you test it out and then some engineer is going to use it there some problem and you have to fix that first.

Hi @Nowell365
I'm looking at doing something for user training in front of a machine. Were you successful using the GoPro with teams?

Yes, it is possible.
First, you need to convert your GoPro to a webcam using a device called a capture card and a Micro HDMI to HDMI cable or Mini HDMI to HDMI (if you have a Hero4).
Make sure you have a GoPro with an HDMI port. Hero4 Black, Hero4 Silver, Hero5, Hero6, Hero7 Black, and Hero8 Black should work, actually any camera with an HDMI port will work (The GoPro Media Mod is needed for the Hero8).
The setup is straight-forward since it is all plug and play.
Once you connect everything, you need to set up your GoPro as the source for the video and audio, or only for the video, as you like.
Click your profile picture at the top of Teams, then Settings > Devices.
Under Audio devices, pick the speaker and mic you want Teams to use by default.
Under Camera, select the capture card, and you will see a preview of the GoPro's video.
Here's a detailed guide on how to do the setup with a recommendation on which capture card to use.

@michelissa this guide should help you out. You can then use a GoPro as a webcam for MS teams or Zoom etc.
