Hi - I here conflicting info on PSTN direct routing and calling plans. If an organization wants to use Teams for their PSTN calling, but hasn't yet invested in Skype Online, do they also need to get Skype Online? If so, presumably customers can continue to buy Skype Online in the future? I hear rumours of Microsoft blocking the sale of Skype Online because they want people to go to Teams. But that makes no sense if you need Skype Online to use Teams and PSTN.
Teams now have most of the calling features as skype for business including PSTN calling..Skype will continue to exist for a great while though! Dont know about MS blocking skype though! Its included in every new tenant..
Yea for the time being you still need a Skype license assigned. There are still a lot of back end bits that get spun up with that license that are required in the teams side. Mostly pstn stuff but eventually once the admin center is 100% migrated that requirement will probabaly change.
