Files access for member (can contribute but not edit)

Copper Contributor

Hi,

Does anyone know if we can setup the access so that members can contribute (upload new documents to a folder) but cannot edit (cannot edit or delete existing documents) files saved on MS team?

Thanks!

It's not straight forward and the UX will probably throw errors if you try to edit a document from within Teams, but you can create a custom permission level in the underlying SharePoint site, and swap out the edit permission level with the custom one where you remove edit documents etc. Then Teams will respect those permissions as well, just not sure what all would be hidden by Teams or possibly throw errors in the process.

@Chris Webb Thanks alot Chris!  Exactly what we need and it works perfectly now!

@Chris Webb Hi Chris, thanks again for your reply back in April.  We were able to share files effectively with the control we need.

We also wanted to improve the efficiency to sync the MS Team folder to our One Drive and it's been working great to locate files by window explorer from the massive database we have, BUT we've been having issues add files to One Drive and have them sync back to MS Team.

The users can only add files by using MS Team but cannot add from One Drive.

Do you know of any solution to this?

Thanks,

Hazel
