External access to MS Teams does not work

Copper Contributor

Hi,

we actived the external Access to MS teams and checked also our settings in the ADD. However, some external mail adresses cannot be added to start a 1:1 chat in MS Teams.

Does the external mail need to have an Office 365 licence, Skype for Business or Teams or can also private mail adresses be added (like Gmail, Hotmail etc.)?

Thank you in advance for your response!

For now, to start chatting with external users that are not guests in your tenant you will need the to have Office 365. Support to regular Skype is coming soon

Don’t have to have office 365 exactly. You can have onprem Skype for business and still get external chat from Teams, but it’s ideal that users have Skype for business online or teams and external chat enabled as well.

No other externals are supported currently. Skype Consumer soon.
