Extending Teams

Disclaimer: I am not a developer! 

Is it possible to create extensions for Teams? By "extensions" I mean apps that fill the entire Teams  window when activated? I would use this for displaying an embedded web page that SharePoint editors would be able to easily update. It could be our intranet front page or a self service page.
