we're about to roll out Teams in the Company but actually have to disable everything except of Chat if possible. This decision was made and told us to implement it or we have to cancel the rollout or disable Teams on Tenant globaly for all.
As it makes no sense for us to use it only for Chat but not for Teamwork and Meetings, we still want to use it as the Company Wide communication tool and have to find a solution now. For this, i have the task to disable everything except of chat between users. Is there any way (with Policys) to disable the Meetings, Audio- and Videocalling and the Usage of Teams and Channels inside the Client?
I think this would need testing, but you can restrict a lot in Teams by such things as
- restricting 365 group creation which restricts team creation - Disabling everything on meeting policy - Disabling all apps - Disabling external sharing and guest access
In terms of a pure chat experience, I don’t know if you can go all the way without removing some services from users - for example Disabling file sharing in a private chat as that would mean Disabling users OneDrive for Business.
When I get the opportunity I am going to 100% test this as it’s an interesting question.
