Deleting Meeting but Keeping Chats

Copper Contributor

What happens after I delete a meeting series in teams? Will it automatically delete the chat as well? I would like to delete the meeting but still keep the chat going so we can still keep in touch, plus there is already a lot of history.

When you delete a meeting series in Microsoft Teams, it does not automatically delete the chat associated with it. The chat will remain intact, and you and the participants will still be able to access the chat history and continue the conversation.

Deleting a meeting series in Teams primarily affects the meeting schedule and associated calendar entries. It removes the recurring meeting from your calendar, cancels any future instances of the meeting, and stops sending out meeting notifications.

However, the chat tab within the meeting will persist, and you can continue to communicate with the participants through the chat. The chat history will be available for reference, and you can view and search for past messages.
