Is there any way to set default settings for newly created Teams? Settings for these areas for example:

- Member permissions: Ability of members to create/edit channels, edit/delete their messages.

- Guest permissions: Same as above, enable or disable ability of guests to delete channels

This will ensure all Teams are created with consistent settings preferred by our organisation.

I know we can set some settings per-user using policies e.g. ability of a user to edit their messages. However, I noticed if user is enabled to edit messages via policy but Team is configured to not allow members edit their messages then Team settings take precedence.

You can create teams with templates and custom settings via the graph:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/graph/api/resources/teams-api-overview?view=graph-rest-1.0

Or create a team as a reference team and use this as a template when creating new ones, copying membership, channels, settings!

https://support.office.com/en-us/article/create-a-team-from-an-existing-team-f41a759b-3101-4af6-93bd...

This feature is for some reason gone at the moment !!

Great...thanks for the reference material.

So only way we can set settings for a new Team is via graph or templates. If we don't use either of these e.g. if end users are allowed to create teams without admin restrictions then the Team settings they will get will be dependent on whatever Microsoft had configured.

Solution
End users can use the create from template function and choose a team they are owner of
