SOLVED

create an alias for a Teams channel email

Copper Contributor

Hello,

I find the generated channel email long and not easy to use or communicate to external people ;

Will an alias feature be (someday implemented?

Many thanks for your kind answers,

BR

No, currently not. There is an uservoice requesting this but no update for a while and only a few votes. So vote for that and comment.

As a workaround you can create a contact from Office 365 Admin Center, that will create a contact in your tenant that forwards emails to that long strange channel address.

I'm a little late to the party here ... but an option we've used for this is to set up a shared mailbox, give it an email address and then do a redirect rule to send that email into teams.

Clearly not an ideal solution, but it works.

@Luis Rodrigues , Seems like these workarounds would provide MS some motivation to allow aliases on a Channel mailbox. Rather than support redundant FREE mailboxes or contact records.
