Chat history on a long standing teams meeting chat

We have an internal standing meeting that has been occurring regularly for ~3 months. The chat thread for that meeting is very long with hundreds of messages. 


We invited some external clients to that meeting series and was surprised that they were able to still post messages into the chat once the meeting had ended. 



  • Should their access to the chat have been automatically removed once the call ended?
  • Can they see any prior chat history?
