Chat button missing in a Teams Meeting?

Steel Contributor

Howdy,

We had a Teams Meeting with around 150 people and a bunch of people didn't have the Chat button to click in the action bar to open the side panel.  I had the issue and accidentally left the meeting and went back in and then I had the button.  After the meeting was over, lots of people reported they didn't have the chat button so they couldn't submit questions to the meeting.

Does anyone know if this is a known issue or why it might have happened and if there's a way to make it not happen again?  🙂

Thanks.

Almost 2 years later, and it's still an issue. My meeting has 12 people in it, and most of us can't chat.

@woneal I don't know if this is the same issue, but I finally figured out that I was having that problem because the meeting organizer created the meeting from a "team".  Since I'm not actually on that team, I can't access the chat.  I can still attend the meetings, but I don't have any access to the data in that team. If this is the same issue, maybe you can get invited to the team or get the organizer to stop created the meeting from the team and create it from Outlook.

@Kevlar  I confirm adding to a Team solved the issue. Thank you!
