I use Microsoft Teams to communicate with my work team. We have noticed that our status is constantly changing to some form of busy ("In a Meeting") and when we change it back to "Available", the status will just change back to "Busy" sometime later. My work day is about 8 hours long and I've had to change my status back to "Available" about 3 times today, so it is fairly frequent. Another team member is stuck in "Out of Office" status and we keep getting notifications when we try to message him. Every time we update our status back to "Available", it will just revert to the original "Busy" state.
Is anyone else experiencing a problem where your Teams status gets changed to Busy, without any action on your part? I know my status automatically updates to "Away" based on whether or not my computer is sleeping / turned on, but I have never seen my status automatically change to "Busy" unprecedented like this.

This issue was raised a year and a half ago. It's still an issue. We are new to 365 and Teams and just discovering it. I found this place to give feedback to the Teams team, it has over 1,100 votes and no reply from Microsoft. Hopefully posting it here will get it some more votes.
Go vote for it and maybe we'll see this as an option soon!

We have the same issue, but since 08.03.2020. We can see, that a "PresenceAddin" is there under Appdata/local..., same location as the MeetingAddin. But in Outlook we have no PresenceAddin, because the folder has no DLL's or EXE's inside, not like MeetingAddin.
Status in Teams is showing "Out of office" with the old message from Outlook autoreply.

New to teams and some staff are having this exact issue.
It is not acceptable considering how long ago the issue was initially raised.

Every chat program in the universe lets you turn this "auto status update" nonsense off. But not Teams.

@ have spoken to Microsoft directly about this twice when they call following a fault raised by our provider.
They recognise the issue and the admitted a lot of companies are having this issue and they are working on a fix.

It also does appear that Teams is now respecting a manual status update which is not changing based on calendar for me. Not sure what the time out if any on this is, trying to find out, but it does seem to be much more consistent with the real time presence update.
Example, I set my status to Away. Created a calendar appt. set as busy, and my status stayed Away. If you reset your status it will change it to the system status (busy). Anyway, thought I might let everyone wanting to turn that off know that the experience might be better now, although not fully off, you might have some kind of control of it now.

Still seeing this issue with a handful of users. Tried all the calendar stuff, but users are still being switched to "Busy" or "In a call" when they are neither - one of the users we were working with last night was showing as "In a call" when he demonstrably was not, so it's clearly still a problem!

@Sharon Kinard It's happening to me now. our IT team is trying to resolve it. it's annoying because in my calendar shown that i am busy for the whole day so people who wants to invite me for a meeting wont be able to find the empty slot in my calendar because of that.
