Admin programmed Teams speed dial

Copper Contributor

I have a site that wants to have a number set in teams  that workers can dial to access their site security office. They want this number to be on every teams account so it cannot be removed and in a prominent position such as in  the speed dial window This is an EHS measure so is considered as critical to the business. Is there any way in which this might be achieved?

@sparker100 You cannot add a contact to all users contact list in the phones but you could learn them what number to call. With Dialing Plans settings in Teams you can setup extension calling so that you can learn them to dial 1234 to get to the site security office. With the Normalization Rules in your Dial Plan you can change so if a user dials 1234 it will instead dial +15551234 that is the number to your site security office.

@AlexanderHolmesetThis is a solution for new user sin the org. What about current users and for a migration to Teams phone?

Certainly, I can help you with that. It sounds like you want to set up a specific phone number for workers to dial and access their site security office through Microsoft Teams. You also want to ensure that this number is prominently displayed and cannot be easily removed from Teams accounts. Given that this is an important Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) measure, you want to ensure it's effectively implemented.

To achieve this, you can follow these steps:

  1. Global Announcement: You can make an organization-wide announcement or communication informing all employees about the importance of this security measure and the designated phone number. This helps raise awareness and emphasizes the critical nature of the information.

  2. Company Policy: Incorporate this requirement into your company's IT policy or guidelines. Clearly state that the designated security number should be added and prominently displayed in the Teams account.

  3. Teams Speed Dial: Microsoft Teams provides a feature called "Speed Dial" or "Favorites" where you can pin frequently used contacts or numbers. Although the exact features may change over time, here's a general approach:

    • Add the Number: Instruct each employee to add the designated security phone number to their Speed Dial or Favorites list within Teams. They can typically do this by clicking on their profile picture or avatar, selecting "Settings," and then navigating to "General" or a similar section.

    • Prominent Position: Encourage employees to place the security number at the top of their Speed Dial list. This ensures it's easily accessible and in a prominent position.

  4. Administrative Controls: Work with your IT department or Microsoft Teams admin to set up administrative controls that prevent users from removing this specific number from their Speed Dial or Favorites list. While exact steps may vary, admins often have the ability to manage and customize users' Teams settings.

  5. Regular Reminders: Periodically remind employees about the importance of the designated security number and its placement in Teams. This can be done through company-wide communications, emails, or even through Teams itself.

  6. Training: Conduct training sessions or provide resources that guide employees on how to add and manage numbers in Teams. This helps ensure everyone understands how to properly set up and maintain the security number. Top Trend PK

this is a great post @AlexanderHolmeset  , I think this could definitely work in certain contexts but I believe there are still limitations given it requires the enduser creds.

Seems there's no central way to do this as a signed-in Teams Admin. (Sort of how teams admins today can apply configuration profiles across devices)
