I cannot add members to a Private Team Channel I get 'We didn't find any matches' however the member is added to the Team. Not sure why i cannot add a member of a Team to a Private Team channel
Try removing the team member from the team and re-add. If not successful you can try using another Teams app (web, mobile). Seems like this has been a bug for some time.
