Add hoc chat with random external user.

Steel Contributor

Hi,

Just a quick question. Is ist possible to invite an external user to a chat, without adding the contact. As long as settings in Teams is correct?

Just start a new chat, and enter a valid e-mail.

As long as both organization's settings allow for federation/external communication, and you know the SIP address of the user, it's possible. Nowadays, you can do the same even with Skype users. The experience can be flaky at times though.

Thank you @Vasil Michev And it should also work with an e-mail adress, for a chat?

Indeed! As long as those factors Vasil mentioned is true

It might, but that's not a guarantee - the SIP address is what's important for this scenario.

How do I find out someone's SIP address if I just have their email?

Ask them? :) There's no way for you to look this up, unless you have an account within their directory. Although in most cases it will match with the primary SMTP address, that's not a guarantee.
