My organization has disabled the ability for a user to change their picture via OWA as we are syncing their profile pictures from elsewhere. Somehow the Microsoft Teams app is able to change the picture and have that sync across the other O365 services. First I would like to understand how/where Microsoft Teams is setting the new picture. Also, I would like to be able to disable this functionality for my tenant. While it is a great feature, for other organizations, we are more strict on enforcing that a user's photo be set to a corporate provided photo.
If the ability to restrict this is not available for Microsoft Teams I would like to suggest that you add the ability to restrict this feature. If someone can explain how/where Microsoft Teams is setting it maybe we can make a change elsewhere that would achieve the same end result.

Our organization currently only allows HR approved profile pictures to be loaded and this feature is circumventing that. Please make this an option to disable for administrators.

My users have just figured out they can do this as well. It's a company policy that user photos MUST match security badge photos. Thanks to Teams, I no longer have a way to prevent users from changing it as the Teams photo appears to overwrite other services.

Same here. I have already set the OWA policies and SharePoint setting to prevent users from changing/uploading photos. However, with Teams users can changing/uploading photos.
Please allow us the ability to prevent this function. Some companies either restrict this all together or have tight policies in this regard. I do not think the person in HR would appreciate inappropriate pictures.

The very first thing people did was put inappropriate pictures in there--just to see if they could. And this from a government organization with people who should know better. This is exactly why the policy was implemented to begin with.

Same problem here. I'd previously set the OWAMailboxPolicy SetPhotoEnabled section to False and uncheck MyProfileInformation under the Exchange Default Role Assignment Policy.
