A1 plan recording auto upload restriction

Brass Contributor

Hi, With restriction on recording automatic upload to MS Stream in A1 plan has resulted in Intellectual property (IP) issues.

Now All the students can download the class recording from the chat without any restriction. This is creating lot of problem for the School as the recording are school property and students are circulating in the public domain.

How do we resolve this. Looking forward to your support. This is urgent & critical please.

@bharat_tank I have tried resolving this issue in Teams; however, you might have to verify it on the Teams for education platform which is slightly different from the standard Teams platform. Below is what worked for me:

1. In "Meeting Options" select "Only Me" for who can present.

2. Stop the meeting recording only when all students have left the meeting.

3. Manually remove any students who have not left the meeting.

4. Go to "Microsoft Stream" and edit the video properties to remove viewing permissions as required.

Hope this helps.

Thank you @adilyoosuf, for your reply.

actually the problem is bit different - with the change in M365 A1 plan by Microsoft. Recordings are not auto uploaded on Stream. This allows students to swiftly download the Recording from the Chat itself. Which is creating issues.

@bharat_tank Hello, you should use meeting policies to control who can record a meeting, if applicable.

Allow cloud recording https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/meeting-policies-in-teams#allow-cloud-recording

"User needs to be licensed (Stream) to upload/download meetings to/from Microsoft Stream, however they do not need the license to record a meeting. If you wish to block a user from recording a Microsoft Teams Meeting, you must grant a TeamsMeetingPolicy that has AllowCloudRecording set to $False." https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/cloud-recording

For using roles (as suggested in the previous reply) https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/roles-in-a-teams-meeting-c16fa7d0-1666-4dde-8686-0a0bfe16...

Thank You @ChristianBergstrom for your inputs.
