I have a public team and recently found out that someone who has the role of "member" is able to add members. I checked the member permissions in team settings, the only option selected is "Give member this option to edit their messages." Our IT guy checked and he had the "add a member" option on this public team (where he has a member setting) but not on another team. How can I remove the option for members to add members?
This is correct! If the team is public anyone can join this team by design! Its an open team for anyone to join and become an member! It would make much sense for member not being able to add members when anyone can join on their own :)
If the team is private only the owner can add members! I believe the admin tried this in a private team as a member
As Adam said. The team is public so anything can join so anyone can invite. If you don’t want people to invite to a team but still want people to join by choice you can make use of join codes in that situation.
Change the team to private then get the join code from the team settings page and publish this code. This will prevent members from inviting but give an open way for users to join by clicking Join team and entering this code.
