New features in Teams (free) on desktop and web
Join a community (Windows 11)
Previously it was possible to join a community on mobile only, but now this feature is in Teams free on Windows 11 as well, making it a lot simpler to join communities. Additionally, when invited to a community, you can choose whether to Accept or Decline the invite before joining the community.
Request to join a community (Windows 11)
When joining a community, depending on the community settings configured by community owners, you might join the community immediately or your request to join might need approval. With this new feature, community owners can limit access to their communities by using the new configuration option requiring community join requests to be approved by community admins. For new communities, this setting is disabled by default, but if you want to make your community closed, you can go to the community settings and enable it.
Polls in communities and meeting chats (Windows 11)
Like in chats in Teams free, you can now create and respond to polls in communities and meeting chats as well. Learn more about how to Create a poll in Microsoft Teams (free).
No more missed meetings (Windows 11)
If you have a meeting in your Teams calendar, you will now get a notification when the meeting is starting (when a first person joins meeting) so you won’t miss the meeting. Learn more about how to Create a meeting in Microsoft Teams (free).
Meeting links at hand in Chat in Windows 11
When you create new meetings in Chat in Windows 11, you will conveniently see meeting links for these in a list and can easily join or share those. Learn more about how to Create a meeting in Microsoft Teams (free).

Improved RSVP options for community events and event posts in communities are now dynamic
When deciding whether to attend a community event, you can now choose between ‘Going’, ‘Maybe’ and ‘Can’t go’, making it easier for community owners to track attendance for their community events. You can change your RSVP status later, too.
When you update or cancel a community event, these changes are now dynamically reflected in the related posts in the community. This will reduce confusion as you will always have the latest details in the community event posts now.
