Student microphones during lessons

Copper Contributor

Hello. Is there a was to stop the occasional annoying and/or joker student cutting the microphone of his/her classmates whilst they are speaking to me or others?

Sometimes I want the students to talk to me, one at a time. Whilst someone is talking, it seems to be possible for others to cut that person's microphone.

I know that it shouldn't be possible (one of the Microsoft team has already answered me on this), but having experienced it myself, I know that they have found a way to do it! Someone told me they maybe double click in the person's initials or photo....but I'm not sure if that's really how they do it. But they can :(

Setting the class attendees as attendees stops them muting others

This is set in the Meeting Options of the meeting

Hope that answers your question!

@Christopher Hoard   I'd love to be able to set  the Meeting Options at the same time as creating the meeting.    Currently it feels like you can only do it after the meeting has been scheduled.     Its also feels to have uneeded stages

@Christopher Hoard

Thank you very much for your reply Christopher.

Since I read it, I have searched in vain for the way to stop the attendees from muting other participants, but in all the settings I look at, there is not that 'button'!

Maybe a slight complication here is that I live and work in Switzerland, so our Teams is in French, but even so, there is no mention of the mute button option for the attendees (called 'Membres' here).

I'm including a screen shot of the options I get in settings for attendees (and hoping your French is ok :-))

@Christopher I'm not sure if you have any sway with the developers, but I'd love it if you could easily set the meeitng roles when doing the invitation.

Currently you can just only choose between Required and Optional when doing the invitation. Instead of that, I'd rather see
Presenters
Attendees
Optional Attendees

Also a button to exclude anyone that wasn't invited by the organizer
I don't. I would personally open a uservoice for it here

https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/

Teams engineering looks at this to prioritise features. I would vote on it.
