MS Teams wipe all data at once

Copper Contributor

We are using MS Teams for virtual learning for our school and it worked phenomenally, but we had a goof when planning, we didn't set up year based channels in the teams.  Everyone used the general channel for chat and posts.  Is there a way we can wipe all data from the team (basically reset it to new without having to delete and rebuild it)?  It would save us a huge amount of time.

I have powershell access if that's the only way to do it.

Hello, I would probably use (or test at least) the preview feature "Create a team template from an existing team in Microsoft Teams" and use that template when creating a new team, instead of wiping all content. For the latter, and for the record, there's much more work involved with deletion. If it's only about removing all the channel posts (i.e. team chats) then you could use a retention deletion policy for channel messages with a 1-day removal (it will take longer as the underlying service need to process the deletion request). But if files are also involved then you'd have to add a deletion policy for SharePoint as well.

For reference:

@ChristianJBergstromneither of these options are supported for EDU accounts, well retention requires E5, we're on E3. Team templates haven't been deployed for any EDU level yet.

Sigh.  Thanks for replying. At least i have a path for arguing upgrading to E5 for at least the executive and IT staff.
