Announcing the new Microsoft Teams & Skype for Business Admin Center
Published Apr 04 2018 06:02 PM 117K Views

Since its launch in March 2017, Microsoft Teams has evolved to become the ultimate hub for teamwork and has grown significantly in capabilities.  Teams delivers chat-based collaboration, meetings, calling, and enterprise voice features as we’re bringing all the Skype for Business Online capabilities into Teams.

To enable admins to better manage the various aspects of the service, we have started to roll out a new Microsoft Teams & Skype for Business Admin Center.

This new experience provides you with a unified experience to manage both Teams and Skype for Business and will also incorporate Call Analytics and the Call Quality Dashboard.
In addition to giving you one place to manage all aspects of the service, the portal provides administrators with additional functionality, including new end-to-end insights and the ability to manage Teams settings on a user level.

Manage Microsoft Teams and Skype for Business in a unified portal

In the first version of the admin center, the following capabilities will be available:

Microsoft Teams messaging policy: Create custom policies for messaging scenarios for your users.
Create a custom messaging policyCreate a custom messaging policy
User management: Assign policies and configure your users.
Configure a user and assign policiesConfigure a user and assign policies
Microsoft Teams guest messaging settings: Control the messaging capabilities for guest accounts in Microsoft Teams.

Federation settings: Manage federation between tenants for Microsoft Teams and Skype for Business. (Please note that federation for Microsoft Teams and Skype for Business will roll out in stages and this setting might not be visible for you during the initial rollout.)

Audio conferencing: Configure dial-in numbers and settings for Microsoft Teams and Skype for Business.

How to get started

Starting today, we're gradually migrating settings to the Microsoft Teams & Skype for Business Admin Center from both the current Skype for Business Admin Center and the Microsoft Teams settings in the Office 365 Admin center.

The new admin center will be rolled out in stages over the next coming weeks. Once the new admin center is available for you, you’ll see a notification in the Teams settings section in the Office 365 Admin Center that will redirect you to the new Microsoft Teams & Skype for Business Admin Center.

As part of this first migration, your existing General, Email integration, Custom cloud storage, Calls and Meetings, and Messaging settings in Microsoft Teams will be moved to the new Microsoft Teams & Skype for Business Admin Center. Please read the support documentation for more information:

Looking forward

In the coming months, we’ll continue to further improve the new admin center. We’ll add new functionalities, migrate additional settings and include information from the various tools. You can find more information in our documentation, the public roadmap and this blog once available.

To configure teams and channels, please continue to use the Groups dashboard in the Office 365 Admin center. The Apps settings will remain in the Teams settings area of the Office 365 Admin center and will be migrated to the new portal at a later point.

Let us know what you think!

Try the new Admin Center and provide feedback via User Voice or vote for existing ideas to help us prioritize the requests. We read every piece of feedback that we receive to make sure that the Microsoft Teams admin experience meets your needs.

Great news for customers this went GA.

On another note- any news on the PoSH module supporting Teams' (admin) functionality? :)

I still dont see this in my tenant yet? :(

Still waiting for the TEAMS Pchat journaling/retention capabilities for hybrid exchange customers(those still using exchange on-premise), but this is a good first step.  One question around the Messaging Policies - When applying the policy, can we apply it to an AD Group/DL or can it only be applied per USER, as that would be difficult to manage/scale out.

Hasn't hit my tenant yet so I guess I will have to wait and see, but if not I would think this would be a future enhancement request.

Revamping of the new wave for Team features making more collaborative focus .

I don't see anything about managing call queues and auto attendant. Does anybody know whether that will be part of this unified admin centre - and any updated news on when call queues are coming to Teams ? I thought the plan was to roll CQ's out to teams in March.

When we work on teams, document information stored in share point sites, but share point sites created by microsoft team not able to locate in share point portal. Whether it is hidden ?

First congratulations to Microsoft and great improvement in the Teams features..

I have few questions such as,

> I am not able to see the above features and admin center in my tenant?

> When we work on teams, document information stored in share point sites, but share point sites created by microsoft team not able to locate in share point portal. Whether it is hidden ?

Hi,

Further to add for the Praveen query

1. When we execute power shell command Get-team it just listed the teams which I listed as owner not all the teams created in our tenant.

2. When we execute get-unified group power shell command, it does not show which is created/used by Teams.

3. All the documents stored in share point which is not located in share point portal

So now it is May 2nd, is there anyway to find out when our tenant will be getting the new Teams and Skype Admin Center?

Copper Contributor

Are there plans to allow the Teams & Skype for Business Admin center to be delegated to those who are not Global admins?

Iron Contributor
I still don't have access to this new portal, and some of the settings have already been disabled under Services & Add-ins, so I can't make certain changes to my environment at all right now. When should I expect this rollout to be completed?

Can we assign messaging policies to groups of users?  In the educational tenants, how are the EduFaculty and EduStudent assigned  used?

Copper Contributor

We have the same requirement to be able to assign messaging policies to (dynamic security) groups of users (faculty and students).  Are there any updates on this?
