Teams Only Mode

Good afternoon, we are currently in co-existence mode with SfB and Teams.  We have deployed the Teams client and will be moving to Teams Only mode for our organization.  A couple questions

  1. Will users need to convert their meetings to Teams Meetings or will this work.
  2. What will be the end user experience for previously scheduled skype meetings for people that are the organizer and attendees who are in Teams only mode.
  3. What is the easiest way to convert a Skype meeting to Teams meeting?

Hi Warren,

1. It is recommended to have the SfB client installed to join your SfB meetings even if you are in Teams Only mode. You can't join a SfB meeting with your Teams client.

2. If your users are in TeamsOnly mode they need the SfB WebApp or SfB client to join the previously scheduled SfB meetings.

3. If you want to convert you existing SfB meeting to a Teams meeting you need to reschedule this.

Hope this answers your questions.

Regards,

Paul

Thanks Paul appreciate the response. Warren

Hello Warren:

  1. Will users need to convert their meetings to Teams Meetings or will this work.

We intend to provide means for admins to migrate and convert meetings at time of upgrade; and for users to convert meetings client side if necessary. Kindly check my presentation of Meetings First at Ignite BRK3124 that touches on that.

  1. What will be the end user experience for previously scheduled skype meetings for people that are the organizer and attendees who are in Teams only mode.

They will be converted to Teams (and have a normal Teams join experience), unless you choose not to. If you migrate from on-prem, the SFB meetings will be unusable since the organizer will no longer have an on-prem account.

See above.
